The 2015/16 season saw our first team promoted to Division 1 of the Belfast & District League and the second team moved up to the 2nd Division.
The 1sts have picked up 20 points from 12 games so far and are currently sitting 3rd in the table. The squad was strengthened during the summer with a few new signings and that has saw improved performances with the boys in green more than holding their own in all their matches, winning 6 and drawing 2. The weather has caused frustration with many games having been postponed but a good end of season run in should see the team pushing on further with the aim of getting back into the Premier Division.
The 2nds have endured a difficult season due to being promoted into a more competitive league thanks to good results last year however they have so far have only gained 5 points from 16 matches. It is looking likely that they will relegated into the 3rd Division however this will be a positive as it will give us the opportunity to win more matches again next season. Having a second team is instrumental in bringing new players into the club, getting them game time and giving them the opportunity to get into the first team which will make it stronger and provide greater strength in depth for the squad.
The Senior Football Committee continues to work hard in the background to raise finances, having recently ran a grand draw for both the Senior and Junior teams, where the winner won a fantastic trip to New York City. The money raised helps to pay for pitch hire and training costs as well as equipment and kits. The Senior Committee are also endeavouring to source a pitch that they can use as a home ground in the forthcoming seasons and work hard to push the club forward.
We are always looking for new players to join the teams, so if anyone is interested please get in touch.
Finally, we would like to thank Council for their ongoing support and the Association staff for their assistance throughout the year.
